Inventory of 8 kinds of machining process
The objects we touch on a daily basis range from tiny springs and screws to huge cars, planes and even rockets.
The objects we touch on a daily basis range from tiny springs and screws to huge cars, planes and even rockets.
Their production process is actually inseparable from mechanical processing. These items are not presented to us in one step, but are assembled from many different parts. Let's understand the common mechanical processing methods together!
1. Turning
The turning of the rotating workpiece is mainly carried out by the turning tool. This processing method is widely used in the manufacture and repair of workpieces with revolving surfaces such as shafts, discs, and sleeves. In the cutting process, the main cut can be provided by the workpiece, not the tool. Turning is particularly suitable for dealing with various rotary surfaces, such as inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, inner and outer conical surfaces, end faces, grooves, threads, and rotary forming surfaces. The main tools used are turning tools.
2. Milling
Milling by rotating the cutting tool on the surface of the workpiece material, by controlling the movement of the tool, you can produce a plane, concave and convex surface, gears and other complex shapes of parts. Milling includes face milling, end milling, end milling, gear milling, contour milling, etc. Each method is suitable for different processing needs.
3. Drilling
Drilling is the cutting of material on a workpiece by a rotating drill to form a hole of the required diameter and depth. It is widely used in the manufacturing, construction and maintenance fields. Drilling is often divided into regular drilling, central drilling, deep hole drilling, multi-axis drilling and other different types.
4. Grinding
Grinding mainly depends on the grinding wheel and grinding tool to process the workpiece, relying on the rotation of the grinding wheel. When the grinding wheel is grinding, it is mainly the abrasive grains on the grinding wheel that cut, carve and slide on the surface of the workpiece. The abrasive grain itself is also gradually blunt by sharp, which makes the cutting effect worse and the cutting force becomes larger. Therefore, after grinding for a certain period of time, it is necessary to use diamond turning tools to trim the grinding wheel.
5. Boring
Boring is generally used to process round holes inside the workpiece, and the cutting is carried out in the existing holes by rotating the tool to achieve the goal of precise size and flatness. Unlike drilling, which forms a hole by cutting material on the surface of the workpiece, boring cuts a hole by inserting a tool into the interior of the workpiece.
6. Planing
Planing is mainly a tool to do reciprocating linear motion on the workpiece cutting. Therefore, the speed of the planing is relatively low, so that the productivity is low. However, the precision and surface roughness of gouging is more stable than that of milling.
7. Insertion
The slotting tool is simple to manufacture and has short production preparation time. The slotting tool is suitable for machining inner keyway or spline hole in single piece or small batch production, as well as square hole and polygonal hole. For keyways that do not pass through holes or block shoulders, plunging is almost the only machining method.
8. Tooth surface machining
Tooth surface processing is a new processing method. This processing method is divided into two categories: one is forming method, and the other is developing method. The forming method mainly uses the ordinary milling machine for processing, and the tool is a forming milling cutter, which needs two simple forming movements, the rotary motion and the linear movement of the tool. The commonly used machine tools for processing tooth surfaces by the development method are hobbing machines, gear shaper machines, etc.
